Microneedling

What is microneedling?

Microneedling is an aesthetic treatment that aims to improve the appearance of the skin. It helps to smooth out wrinkles and fine lines, improve the appearance of postoperative or acne scars, and reduce the intensity of stretch marks and sun damage such as age spots. It also improves skin tone and texture while refining skin texture.

This revolutionary technology, which is becoming increasingly popular, consists in making micro perforations in the skin, at different depths, using a single-use tip with very fine sterile needles. This triggers the skin’s natural regeneration process and stimulates collagen and elastin production, while allowing the skin to become more permeable to the professional serums used after the treatment.

What to expect from a microneedling session?

First, photographs are taken as to have a “before” and “after.” The skin is then thoroughly cleaned and disinfected, and an analgesic cream is applied approximately 30 minutes before the treatment begins. Then, the technician uses the microneddling device to make small pinpricks along the treated area(s). The treatment usually lasts 30 to 45 minutes.

Although the analgesic cream helps with comfort, the microneedling treatment can be slightly uncomfortable. However, the pain felt is mild.

What is the recovery period after treatment?

Post-treatment recovery is minimal, about 24 to 48 hours. During this time, skin may be red, swollen, and you may experience a slight burning sensation. In rarer cases, clients may experience scabbing or mild bruising for a few days at the most.

Most clients require no downtime after the procedure and go back to work after the procedure.

How long do the benefits of microneedling last?

Within a few days of the microneedling treatment, your skin will already be brighter and smoother and its appearance will continue to improve in the days and weeks that follow. The overall effectiveness of the treatment can be seen from four to six weeks after the procedure, depending on the number and intensity of treatments received. Of course, continuing treatments on a regular basis increases the level of the results, and alternating with other skincare treatments is recommended for optimal and lasting results. You will be able to discuss a treatment plan tailored to your desired outcome during your consultation.
